It is as simple as pushing the tree trunk in to the top of the stand and pulling it out when its time to bring it down, so no real effort required. It also has a fill spout to make watering your tree and checking its water level much easier. The base can fit trunks from 2.5" to 5.5" and can support trees up to a height of 10ft.
